Japanese Unemployment- 04.29.10


The number of unemployed persons in March 2010 was 3.50 million, an increase of 150 thousand or 4.5% from the previous year. The unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, was 5.0%.

  1. Hey ill take 5% any day over 10% (america/eurozone) ... but then again this is against a declining labor market and lower fertility rates in Japan... they really ought to change some social attitudes and let more immigrants in, work less hours, relax a bit more and get another baby boom haha

  2. Actually, the population does increased a little bit. It is really hard to change the working culture in Japan; a lot of people stay in the same company for the entire of their lives, they treat their companies as important as their home. Therefore work overtime is more than making money, but building a better future for their second home.
